Matthias serves as Chief Technology Officer at Complement Therapeutics, where he has led CMC efforts to manufacture clinical products since December 2023. He has more than 25 years of experience in viral vector development for vaccines and gene therapies. Matthias has developed significant knowledge of AAV vectors through his experience at Genethon in France and LogicBio and Alexion AstraZeneca in the USA.

In these roles, he contributed to the development of large-scale manufacturing processes for AAV vectors. These processes were successfully implemented in CDMOs to manufacture GMP-grade material for several clinical trials, including Crigler-Najjar syndrome, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and methylmalonic acidaemia.
