Together with Dennis Keefe, Chief Scientific Officer, Thanos oversaw the IND-enabling in vitro and in vivo pharmacology for CTx001, culminating in FDA IND clearance. A disease biologist with over 20 years of experience across academia and biotech, he has built teams that integrate multi-omics analysis, mechanistic pharmacology, and biomarker-driven translational frameworks.

Before joining Complement Therapeutics, Thanos held director-level Discovery and R&D roles at Galapagos NV and Droia Ventures, and served as a Group Leader at the Mayer IgAN Research Labs, focusing on novel target discovery, biomarker development and early-stage drug development strategy. He has authored 37 papers on immunofibrotic disease mechanisms, pathways and novel target discovery, and has received fellowship and research funding from the UK MRC, the European Union, the Academy of Medical Sciences (Springboard Fellow), RoseTrees Trust and the London Law Trust (London Law Trust Research Fellow).
